She and White had been together for some time now, it almost felt weird to think back to Before White. White didn't talk too much, so Little Cyan didn't want to bother her and ask about it; she was getting curious about that, though.

It was much more fun to follow White 'round the ship as they tackled her task list. The leader on this ship - Black - wasn't nearly as strict as Red had been. When Red had gotten chomped halfway through the last mission, Little Cyan had tried not to giggle. He had tried to make White leave her behind all day long! White had spent some of her words for the day to shout at him on the first day on board and ultimately, sadly, asked Little Cyan to please listen to the commander and stay in quarters.

This trip though was so much better. Pink had his foster kids with him and sometimes they asked Little Cyan to play in the cafeteria. Most of the time though they just wanted to sit in Weapons and blow up asteroids. Little Cyan got bored of that quickly and returned to following White around.

Fundamentally I was still that same Divergent girl that had jumped off of the train with a bloody palm and a daydream about being brave and true.

A brief detour in the shuttle pod again saw Ash escorting Michael, Lieutenant Commander Stamets, and Ensign Tilly to retrieve some mission critical fauna. A year ago Ash would have rolled his eyes at the concept that some mushroom caps stuffed into sample jars could make the difference between life and death. Now however he let them do whatever it was they had to and did his job to monitor the terrain around them.

She stole her glances in between those trips back and forth, her confidence in her assessment growing with each look. Svetlana had arrived early and been seated by another of the ushers in one of the front boxes. Their retinue of followers looked to be quite small, something that Natasha took some joy in. Probably two were armed - covertly - and the third was the assigned second in case something went wrong during the exchange.

They had intended to retrieve it on Port Royal but the defenses there had been strengthened over the past years. They had left empty handed once more. Elizabeth closed her eyes and sank further into the wooden lean-to. The top of her head poked out the opposite side. She could feel the sun beating down on it ferociously. Worst of all, she didn't disagree with her crew's frustrations; the map had been their best lead for both Jack's hopes and Elizabeth's.

"Regardless I had not factored into my decisions a way to contact my cursed husband-" she made the correction sharply "-in the event of such a thing. Because it was not supposed to happen."

She heard Jack's indignant noise and counted her few, scattered lucky stars that he didn't continue with his commentary. The conversation lapsed again into bitter silence. She reached her fingers out for the water canteen and frowned when her fingertips found only open air. It had been sitting between them for the past hour.
