Title: Just Think About It
Rating: T
Fandom: Divergent - Veronica Roth
Pairing/Characters: Eric/Lauren/Tris Prior
Critical Tags: Pre-Relationship, Light Fluff
Summary: Lauren asks one not-so-innocent question to her girlfriend.
Excerpt:
"Now you've got me thinking about this instead of my reports," I growled.
Lauren pointed a finger at me, balancing the core of her apple between the rest. "That's because I'm on to something. If he wasn't cute, there would be nothing to consider."
I wanted to snap back how very wrong she was, but the tips of my ears were burning and dammit, did my girlfriend have a point here? I rapped my fingernails against the tabletop in a rapid tattoo. "Which one of us works with him every day? Me," I grumbled. "I would know if he was cute. And it wouldn't need to be this big of a discussion."

Title: Out in the Cold
Rating: T
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Pairing/Characters: James "Bucky" Barnes/Clint Barton
Critical Tags: Mission Fic, Jealousy
Summary: On a mission in the freezing woods of upstate New York, Clint has to save his boyfriend from almost certain death. Just another day in the office.
Excerpt:
Clint took another draught of the coffee next to him. His thermos was dangerously empty. There was a hotplate plugged into the tiny solar-powered battery he could use to brew some more, but that wasn't exactly an option. With Barnes no longer within extraction distance, Clint wasn't going to spend five minute digging around for coffee, filters, and all that paraphernalia just for whatever expired, tasteless drip would come out. If Barnes was still on his snowmobile heading to the target location, well, then the coffee might have taken precedence.
As it was, Barnes had managed to infiltrate the outer stone walls of the manor with relative ease. There was a brief moment when his snowmobile had been spotted just before he was going to slip into one of the side wings. That had caused the white-clad guards to swarm out of the woodwork onto the unknown vehicle. Clint had put three arrows into the guard manning the large search beacons. When the light went out, the snowmobile was briefly forgotten and Barnes' path was cleared to slip in through one of the doors the guards had so thoughtfully left open.

Title: Slay Me with Silver; Gild Me with Gold
Rating: M
Fandom: Star Trek: Discovery
Pairing/Characters: Michael Burnham, Mirror Gabriel Lorca
Critical Tags: Mirror Universe, Hurt/Comfort
Summary: Undercover in the brutal world of the ISS Shenzhou, Michael is now the one who holds Lorca's safety in the palm of her hands.
Excerpt:
"Give him another hour. Then send him to my quarters." Even her tone - casual, as though this was as straightforward as relaying the order to change course - felt alien to herself.
She didn't allow herself to retreat. That surely would have been worse; to spend the next stretch of minutes simply waiting and wondering if Lorca would break under the strain. Instead Michael rejoined the crew on the bridge. There was nothing quite like knowingly walking into the viper pit. At least she had her eyes open now. And she was a killer, too, just like them. Not as prolific as her counterpart she was playing, but Michael was not unfamiliar with the blood on her hands.

Title: Night Watch
Rating: T
Fandom: The Man from UNCLE (Movie)
Pairing/Characters: Illya Kuryakin, Gaby Teller
Critical Tags: Mission Fic, Character Study
Summary: Gaby and Illya take tonight's stake out shift. It's only been a few weeks into their partnership, and Gaby has questions for Illya as she adjusts.
Excerpt:
She shifted in the seat next to him, a grimace catching the corner of his eye as he tried in vain to pay attention to just the task at hand. "I think next time we should spring for a nicer car," Gaby grumbled. She wasn't wrong. Illya was just more acclimated to the discomforts that came with espionage.
Gaby was adjusting, though. She already had a leg up on what either Illya or Napoleon had expected due to the efforts Waverly had gone while using her as an informant. But laying low and letting others take lead wasn't on the table any longer. She was clever though and for the most part she had taken to the new position like a duck to water. After all, she had done a fair amount of the leading with the Rome job.
She did not belong cooped up in a car for hours on end watching an empty building when she could be building, fixing, tinkering. Illya was dying to get her insights on the tech that UNCLE was being assigned, but, no, that wasn't a helpful thought here.

Title: Little Piggy
Rating: T
Fandom: Seafire - Natalie C. Parker
Pairing/Characters: Redtooth, Caledonia, Pisces, Lace
Critical Tags: Team Bonding, Pre-Canon
Summary: The crew of the Mors Navis stops for a supply run at a small island. What they find there is too good to pass up, even if it is a bit more of a challenge than they'd expected to encounter.
Excerpt:
Redtooth scanned the treeline with a ready eye. "They seem like they're making good progress." From the bench of the bow boat, Lace's voice carried over the soft sound of the waves lapping on the sand.
"I had no doubts," Redtooth replied with a ready grin. It did still feel good to hear - indirectly - that her work was showing positive improvement. She spared a glance back to Lace. "How's that ankle?"
Lace's grimace was an unfamiliar visitor to the normally positive girl's visage. "I keep thinking it feels better and try to turn it. Not the smartest," she replied.
With a laugh, Redtooth agreed. "Not quite. Just be patient. We'll be done in no time at this rate."

Title: Proper Foresight
Rating: T
Fandom: Star Trek: Discovery
Pairing/Characters: Mirror Gabriel Lorca, Mirror Michael Burnham
Critical Tags: Character Study, Mirror Universe
Summary: When Lorca is summoned to the Emperor's latest whim, he finds himself with an opportunity.
Excerpt:
When Georgiou twitched her fingers to summon her daughter to her side, Lorca’s confidence faltered briefly. His knee-jerk reaction was of irritation; what had he done to deserve the demotion to glorified babysitter? But he held his tongue until he had the time to properly evaluate the young woman. If Georgiou noticed any hesitation in accepting the assignment to guard Michael she said nothing before dismissing them both.

Title: Love is Stored in the Home
Rating: T
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Pairing/Characters: James "Bucky" Barnes/Natasha Romanov
Critical Tags: Domestic Fluff
Summary: After everything that James has been through, there’s something comforting about the simplicity of house arrest.
Excerpt:
Two nights later he showed up on her doorstep with his duffle bag, notebook, and a promise to not cause a mess. Natasha had a smile beginning on her lips when she let him inside. He deposited himself on her couch and while that was where he could have remained for 16 hours a day while she was out, James preferred to remain active.
Natasha was neat but she also was still working for SHIELD more often than not. That meant late nights (or more often early mornings) and sudden deployments right in the middle of the laundry. James took it on himself to step in and keep the house since he was technically unable to provide for the household monetarily; all those accounts remained under the agreed upon asset freeze. Natasha hadn't asked for any help, but she hadn't needed to.

Title: Take a Leap
Rating: T
Fandom: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Pairing/Characters: Armitage Hux/Rey
Critical Tags: Modern AU
Summary: Between the bitter, cheap champagne and the constant drone of voices over the crackling speakers, Armitage had been quite ready to leave the office party sooner rather than later. The only saving grace that had kept him from leaving was a five foot seven accounting intern that he was trying very hard to not look at over the rim of his champagne flute.
