“Really?” she asked in wonder. “Why would you think that?”

He gave her a look. “Oh I don’t know,” Kylo said wryly. “Perhaps it’s the fact that we’re still stuck between diametrically opposed factions in an intergalactic war.”

Looking down at the open air below and even further down the stretch of ocean sent a shiver through Fenyx's spine. From up this high she could only see when the waves rose up enough to form foamy white caps. Just how far up was she, even? It hadn't felt that high when she was walking originally.

She reached a hand behind her head to find the metal disc that sat just between her shoulder blades. Logic suggested that it couldn't possibly do what she had felt it do. There was a gap between the pieces which she had felt the mechanical wings spiral and snap out from. But standing here? Her thumb ran across the gap and found nothing inside when she prodded further.

"This is so not what I thought I would be doing today. Not in the slightest," Fenyx muttered to herself. She pulled her hand back and wiped her palms on her cuirass. Magic and blessings from the gods were tales to be told about others by Fenyx, not something to be experienced herself. And yet.

Blue slowly let her arms uncoil from around herself. She padded over to White. She waited the long minute for Black and Purple to disperse from before she took White's hand in hers. "Tell me honestly," she whispered hoarsely. "Was he one of them? Like you?"

White tipped their head in that curious motion that Blue found oh so endearing. "Does it matter?" they replied. The ship was deathly quiet while the engines were offline. Black would need to restart the system before they returned to their journey.

"It matters to me," Blue insisted. "I vouched for you. I- we both voted for him to-"

Actually putting it into words was still so difficult. She hadn't needed to talk much in the meeting. Once she told everyone that White had been with her watching the feeds in security for hours before the attack, that was all they had needed from her until the voting began.

"It's on us. His blood," Blue whispered.
