I haven't been around for a long while, nor would I really consider myself to be "back" to my active status. But I had been getting some comments on fics semi-recently where I decided to post an entry here that might stave off the more annoying ones asking for updates pls.
Life's been pretty fucking hectic between work, family, and my mental health. That's gotten me stuck in a rut that's worse than typical writer's block. I wouldn't go to the extreme and say that I didn't have fun this past year, but honestly I struggled so much to even want to try to do things that I enjoyed where I physically could not even attempt to write or read fic -- one of my core hobbies -- and I spent more time that I would care to think about just sitting doomscrolling or staring at the TV trying to pass time until I slept, went to work, did chores, and stared into the void once more. (Yes, I know this is the impact of my beloathed enemy, depression)
I have been fighting to feel better for months now, and I'm finally OK enough where I am even posting here (yay). So I would call that progress. I am not at the point I was in the past where I can just jump into any fic and get the juices going even after a little bit of rough edges. I'm only working on mindless, fun, no-pressure fics which is why I am going to state here that there should be zero expectation that this post means there's going to be updates to existing WIPs appearing in an inbox near you any time soon. If I start feeling really good, then I'll hopefully make another post and start cracking open the old WIPs and outlines. But for now, simple is key. Zero expectation is necessary.
Which is why I wrote a cracky little snipped about the operators from Call of Duty MW2 adopting a cat rather than my typical fannish activities. So if that sounds like your cup of tea (with a side of biscuits), feel free to check that out. If you're here waiting eagerly for Prove It, WHHT, or anything else, sorry! Please continue to be patient with the author lurking behind your screen!
:)
Oh and if I don't post before the end of the year, have a very happy holiday season and a fantastic new year.
