This whole "late posting" is becoming a "thing". Oops.

In your own space, talk about your creative process(es) — anything from the initial inspiration to how you feel after something’s done. Do you struggle with motivation or is it a smooth process? Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to pull out when a fanwork isn’t cooperating? What is your level of planning to pantsing/winging it?

Mmmm the creative process. A fickle mistress and one that ultimately I don't think can ever be fully tamed. There are some projects where I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the direction and the themes. Other ones are total battles from start to finish and I'm never quite confident in the final result.

I don't think there's any one method to get through writer's block or even just to get motivated in general. You can plan something to hell and back, and once you're writing it out it can be just as sticky as a passing thought you want to get down on the page. Because of that, I think I thread the line between planning and pantsing. I'll write down some core scenes or concepts that I think are key to a story. Then, I'll just see where I end up. It's worked in various levels of success over the course of my writing "career". I think all I can do to improve it so far would be to just keep up with more habit-reinforcement for wanting to write more frequently.

In your own space, create your own challenge.

There are so many good, interesting challenges on the Day 12 page. I'm always partial to "Finish your WIP" pushes, so I think that's what I'll use here:

Make a plan for how you can finish a WIP that's been sitting on the bend a little too long. Maybe set a goal for words per day. Or plan to have it posted by a specific date. Do what you can (within your comfort level) to meet your goal.

So for my very long-standing, too-long-on-the-bench WIP I'm picking Ash and Torment, a Zutara fic started in during the 2017 (YIKES) Zutara Week. It's been on my WIP list for over a year and a half with very little progress.
Each chapter is based on the day's theme and there's only 4 more left to go. So, my challenge to myself is going to be to finish one chapter every two weeks to get those 4 chapters done.

In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private.

Goals, goals, goals. I'll probably go mostlyfannish since I'm liking my dreamwidth here as a sort of focus-point for my fanworks.

  1. Write twice a week.
Starting off with what seems like a low number, but I think this is more "achievable" rather than just real low. I'd rather be happy and achieving my goal than guilty and abandoning it by setting my threshold too high.

  2. Keep my bujo up to date and start making it a little prettier.
I like my bullet journal. It's cute and I just got little thin washi tape to branch out how I design the pages I use.

  3. Publish something every other week.
Oneshot or chapter update, fluff or drama. As long as I'm posting a little something at least semi-frequently I think I'll be happy.

  4. Update DW once a week.
This hasn't been an issue, but you never know. I like this as a nice benchmark, especially if I start getting too self-conscious about posting in comms or commenting on others' posts.

I really enjoyed all of these days. They made me think just enough.
