I find it a bit... mmm, frustrating? that Tumblr on the day that they're pushing out their big content control decides to finally speak up again to "clarify" their position. Which is to say dig themselves further into their own Marianas Trench of fucking up by doubling down on the infamous female presenting nipples and still not addressing literally any of the concerns that have been echoing around dashboards for months.
What good is a horrible, untrained AI going to do against the porn bots that are now posting non porn content with their same untrustworthy links? Literally nothing. How many content creators are instead going to spend hours and days waiting for falsely flagged content to be released to the public? Or worse, how many people will just never realize that their stuff got incorrectly flagged and now they're losing out on the visibility that having a blog is for?
It's a hot goddamn mess.
Oh well. At least with the logoff I've scraped out a few more hopefully productive blocks of time where I can work on the next few posts for my Christmas fic event instead of mindlessly scrolling. Day 5 is in progress and will be posted before too, too long (read: after I've gotten my groceries and eaten something that isn't crackers).
I've also had some time to scope out a few more comms on here. There are some good writing ones and other more community-focused areas where if I get out of my shell and actually post that I might enjoy! I'm also debating making a Divergent comm because I've yet to find anything even resembling one? Probably because the fandom is a bit young for this kind of site, but who knows. I think I'll need some more confidence here first before I pull the trigger on that.
TL;DR
Boycotting Tumblr is always a good use of time & writing is in progress for tonight
